From the very beginning, canned fish produced in Engure was considered a quality benchmark. Quality has always been our priority.

Our certificates

  • In 1996, we were one of the founders of the Riga Sprats association. One of the most important goals of the association is to develop and protect the quality standard of the Riga Sprats brand.

  • In 1998, Unda introduced the food safety assurance system - HACCP. The introduction of the system allowed the company to become one of the first in Latvian fish industry to export its products to the countries of the European Union.

  • In 2010, Unda received the International Food Standard (IFS) certificate for the first time. This certificate confirms compliance with the highest quality standards for safe food production in an annual audit.

  • In 2016, Unda received the British Retail Consortium (BRC) certificate for the first time. Such a certificate is issued to companies that are able to guarantee the compliance of their products and production processes with the highest quality and food safety requirements.

  • In March 2019, Unda received for the first time a certificate from the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) certifying that the fish in production facility was processed and stored in accordance with the principles of responsible and sustainable fishing.

Laboratory

The task of our laboratory is to ensure a high level of quality control of production processes, raw materials and products on a daily basis. We analyze microbiology, physical and chemical parameters. The laboratory started working in 1973. In 1998 it introduced HACCP self-monitoring system. The laboratory underwent the latest modernization in 2019.
Tests and measurements that we cannot perform on our own are performed in internationally recognized laboratories.
